ONE OF A KIND… (OOAK) collectible hand-painted stone, infused with music and magic.
WHEN I’M PAINTING… I have the stone I’m working on, a.k.a. my canvas, and the stone I use as a palette. This ‘palette stone’ sits to my right and is used for working out the kinks in the pens, which tend to clog, especially when layering.
IN THE BEGINNING… when this stone got covered in scribbles and doodles and such like, I would wash it off in order to start over – a clean slate, a clean stone. But then I started to see beauty in these unintended marks. They told another tale; one I hadn’t consciously intended. Like channelling, I guess – more dreamscape than sea- or land-scene. And dreams and the subconscious fascinate me and have always featured strongly in my work.
SO I BEGAN… to use the unconscious marks as a base, and then create a conscious set of marks on top of them.
👈🏻 This stone belongs to this series.
I LOVE THE LAYERING… of the yellow and pink splashes of light, like exploding fireworks, and how the black and grey sit on top; anchoring and framing them, pining them in place, like a web or a net. I like the tiny white stars peeking out from underneath, reminding us that no matter what might be happening in our lives, the stars are eternal, eternally watching over us and present each and every night, no matter the contents or catastrophe of the day. And I like the stained glass effect, which is something I have been playing around with quite a bit, because I just love stained glass windows - whether in a house, an old building, or a church. They feel powerful, majestic and magic – like there is healing contained within them, like if I stand or lay beneath them at the exact time of day in which the light pours through, I might be blessed by angels and granted wisdom or healing.
THIS STONE IS ABOUT… escaping and reinventing, freeing oneself up from the cage that has constructed itself around one’s life. It beckons to you to reach out and shake the bars. It calls upon you to learn to play the music that is held within them. It reminds you that there is a door and a key.
SHAKE, PLAY, REMEMBER…. then step outside and begin again, putting yourself at the centre.
TWINKLE, TWINKLE, FIREWORKS,
AND A STAINED GLASS SKY
Splashes of yellow, bursts of pink,
fireworks that dance on the brink.
Black and grey, they hold the frame,
a web of shadows, a whisper of flame.
Tiny stars peek through the night,
reminders of an eternal light.
No matter the chaos of the day,
they watch, they shine, they softly stay.
Like stained glass windows, bold and bright,
they hold the magic of the light.
A place of power, calm, and grace,
where angels gather in quiet space.
This stone speaks of freedom’s call,
to shake the cage, to break the wall.
To find the key, unlock the door,
to step outside and be once more.
Shake the bars and let them sing,
play the song that life can bring.
Reinvent, reimagine, and see,
the world anew, where you are free.
👉🏻 WHAT BLESSINGS… would you have this stone bestow?
👉🏻 WHAT WISDOM… will you be granted?
👆🏻 I HOPE YOU… find as much pleasure in gazing into this stone as I did in painting it.
