ONE OF a kind (OOAK) collectible hand-painted stone, made with Schleich dog.
DOGS ARE simple creatures in that they are easily satisfied. Give them a bone, a treat, some food, a cuddle, a play, a walkβ¦ and they are content, in their element even. A dogβs best day would be a combination of all mentioned above.
I LIVE on a small island with many different landscapes. You can drive for ten minutes and get to the sea, where the water crashes forcefully and saltily against the edge of the path, splashing you with cold kisses as it tears at your hair. Surfers dip in and out of the waves and small boats bob against the shoreline carrying fishermen and daytrippers alike. Head north and you are in the mountains, towering pines, craggy rocks, agile (and smelly) brown goats. East, and in front of you is open, dry, flat - rural land with orange soil, twisted olive and almond trees, each field surrounded by metre-high hundred-year old hand-built walls. The scenery is breathtaking, beyond anything I have previously seen.
I LIKE to take long walks with my dog, exploring all of these different landscapes; a different place each time, or a place for a season. In March and April I am particularly taken by walking through meadows, observing the transition from winter to spring, the emergence of all of the blossoms, buds and wild flowers.
THIS PEBBLE is inspired by such walks and pays homage to my favourite place, nestled just beneath an old monastery perched high on a cliff. Here I see flowers that could come straight from Fairyland and am regularly blessed by gifts of floating seeds, which I discover nestled deep into my clothes upon returning home.
* I HOPE that you will find as much pleasure from gazing into my stones as I do in painting them.
