One of a kind (OOAK) collectible hand-painted stone, made with Schleich rabbit.
This little rabbit is very special to me as he was the Schleich figure who inspired my journey of making animal story stones. It was Easter. I was looking for rabbits, and bunnies and chicks and eggs… from which to create a project, and he just jumped out. There was something about his blue ears that made him kind of magical, and I’m all about things that are storybook and fairytale. My favourite childhood books were The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, The Magic Faraway Tree, Little Grey Men, everything Beatrix Potter, etc… You get the picture. Something about trying to crawl back into childhood in a vain attempt to escape all of the things in the world I find frightful, especially these days.
For this rabbit I wanted to create a beautiful meadow scene, complete with babbling brook; the kind of meadow where a rabbit would very much like to play. So I decorated the grass with a colourful array of wild flowers and positioned him so that his left front paw is just inching into the water. A play on the metaphor of “dipping a toe in”. A message of encouragement to us all to try things before dismissing them and embrace adventure (whether in big or small ways), opening ourselves up to growth and change and the possibility of magic and miracles in our lives.
I hope that you will find as much pleasure from gazing into my stones as I do in creating them.

Description:
Orange and white rabbit with blue inner ears sitting on a grassy meadow bank covered in colourful wild flowers, next to a blue brook, one paw tentatively testing the water, trying to decide whether or not to cross over or go in. Simultaneously staring off into the distance trying to figure out the meaning of life and where he fits into it all, And maybe, just maybe, he’s staring at you, willing you to take him home so that he can see what lies over the other side.
Inspired by Beatrix Potter books, Jungian psychology, world events and a love of meadows, wild flowers and bunny rabbits.
